Whether the water from your faucet originates from a city supply or private well, or from groundwater or surface water, you want and expect it to be clean and safe. Yet, we all play a part in determinng how clean our water will be. Our actions on the land can alter both the quantity and quality of our drinking water. It is up to each individual to take responsibility and action to ensure a high quality water source for ourselves and future generations.

This manual is designed to help you and others in your community become stewards for protecting your groundwater. It will provide

an introduction to the movement of groundwater and discuss land uses that can impact groundwater. It will provide examples of what other communities are doing or have done to protect their groundwater.
